Shifting the mindset of the Boardroom

This week, I had the pleasure of participating in "Sustainability Beyond Compliance: Shifting the Mindset from the Boardroom” organised by European Women on Boards (EWOB)

The panel shared valuable insights on integrating sustainability into board discussions, and some key takeaways stood out to me:

-The boardroom should be where well-balanced, forward-thinking decisions are made and all members need to take part in the discussion.

- It’s not just about adding skills — board seats are limited, so all should have the knowledge

- Board members must stay curious and engaged, always learning about sustainability.

- Businesses van have significant adverse impacts through their activities, which must be considered.

- Boards are accountable to specific stakeholders, not just shareholders.

As a board member, having a holistic view is crucial.

It is really about taking a business perspective, sustainability as a key driver for long term profitability.

Many board members are eager to learn more, but with so many training options available, where do you start?

Here’s where I come in. Not by diving straight into a full sustainability program, but by starting with a tailored two-hour, one-on-one training. This training focuses on giving a holistic understanding of sustainability, covering legislation, context, urgency, and trends that offer opportunities — plus guidance on how to begin a sustainability journey.
